Though most of my holiday shall be spent relaxing in the sunshine (Don't worry, being a pale English girl, I shall wear sun cream!) There are times when a little bit of make-up is required.
For some reason, I don't know about you guys, I don't seem to wear as much when I am abroad but there are a few things to take into consideration when packing which is what I hope to help you with now.
Being my Father's child through and through let's pack...unpack and then repack again, take out a few pairs of shoes and one of the 10 bikinis and we will be ready to go :)
Best place to start would be number 1, I guess. A simple mattifying setting spray, keep it in the fridge at your apartment for a refreshing pick me up and keep you shine free, bonus!!
2. Instead of taking a heavy foundation, a simple tinted moisturiser like the Origins Vitazing which also contains an SPF of 15. Keeps skin with a healthy glow but nothing to make you sweat with the weight (eww!)
3. A mousse/cream bronzer, I don't like to wear powder in hotter climates, I find the mousse/cream texture goes smoother on my skin with no foundation. This Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel one not only smells great, makes you feel luxurious but has a beautiful golden glow to it too!
4. Nothing extensive, but a small shadow palette to fulfil your needs. A shimmery light colour to highlight under brows, cheekbones, cupids bows. A colour to fill in brows for a soft summery look and two contouring/definition colours for evenings out at the bar. (MAC palette includes Shroom, Omega, Mulch & Espresso)
5. Chapped lips are never a good look no matter what kind of year ladys, keep a trusty lip balm with you at all times. I find a stick form melts less quickly so if you wish to carry one around with you all day this Burt's Bees one with Mango smells of summer tenfold!
6. A light mattifying powder for us girls with especially oily skin, my fav at the moment is Rimmels Stay Matte.
7. Setting a cream in most cases increases it's longevity, pack just in case you need a marathon makeup wearing session on a roadtrip somewhere. Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Blissful is a summery coral/pink and with buildable colour will work at the beginning of your holiday (white as ghost-tanless) and on your jounrey home looking like a Greek Goddess.
8. A cream blush works the same as a bronzer in my eyes, less weight and glides smoother on bare skin. This is one of my favourites...Too Faced Cheek & Lip creme in Tea Rose. Multi-tasking too!!
9. Long lasting eye shadow? Check! With this 24hr Color tattoo cream eyeshadow in On and On Bronze by Maybelline will not only have a beautiful shimmery bronze look but it should last you all day in the sun with a small amount applied to the lid with your finger and blended out.
10. A Gel liner has longer lasting power then a pencil which is more likely to smear, I know Makeupforever has a waterproof one, correct me if I am wrong, which would be your better choice for holiday wear but any gel should suffice unless you are deep sea diving. The one above is part of 3 from Physicians Formula for Brown Eyes.
11. A staple wherever you are. The key to making your eyeshadow last, need a bigger introduction? I think not, it speaks for itself...Urban Decay Primer Potion. It is a legend in the world of makeup. Evens out lid colour, hides small veins, make blending of shadows easier as well as increasing the intensity and longevity of the shadows too.
12. Waterproof mascara. No need for smeary raccoon eyes whilst away, never a hot look in the holiday snaps. Find your best mascara and see if they do a waterproof formula. The Maybelline colossals range never seems to fail and shall be the one I am packing with me this year!
13. For when your skin dries out in the sun, for a glowing look to the tops of your cheeks as a highlighter alternative and an intensive lip balm at night...the good ol' Vaseline. Store it in your fridge for refreshing moisturisation but I wouldn't recommend to take this out with you as it will surely melt!!
14. Keep your unruly brows in place with a clear/tinted mascara. It can help thicken the look of your brows if filling them in is not to your taste but gives a finished look to your face. Brows frame your eyes, don't neglect them as a hassle that lurk near your forehead, show them some love!
Finally...15. For girls like me who were not blessed with a fuller/complete brow or...you over plucked when you were 15 'cause it was cool and now they don't grow back, a waxy pencil is the answer to your problem, it will help keep your brows in place and give soft colour where applied.
And...that is it! May seem a bit excessive but I think you are covered with this no matter what you do on your hot, sunny holiday. There are some products that you could miss, that is a given but let me know what you think. What are YOUR holiday make up must haves?

what if you're going to a cooler climate o_O
ReplyDeletea cooler climate is generally easier to cater for, I think. he cold may freeze the makeup to your face :P Whereas heat you have to deal with melting...more than normal sweating etc. You going somewhere cooler, are you?
